Off the back of a recent web design, by Fresh Forms, Don Norman and his colleagues, at The Design Lab, were "underwhelmed" with the outcome. Not to mention they had little patience for going through another design process.  How would I be able to keep the stakeholders in alignment and still facilitate the user centered design process? Would I be able to deliver a visual design that the stakeholders would even find engaging?

This is what the previous brand agency had implemented in which the stakeholders found unimpressive.

Stakeholder Survey

One challenge my team faced is that of getting stakeholder alignment. There was no way we were going to overcome the obstacle of getting stakeholders to think our design was visually engaging without their concensus. I've found that this greatly reduces the number of revisions. So, instead of conducting the workshop in person, we used Google Forms to collect survey data via email.

Starting out with a white board session helps the team to share a brain. In this case, we were making decisions on what type of taxonomy we were going to use for the information architecture and navigation of the website. Debating against user type vs action orientated menu items.

Design & Development The Great Divide

Above you saw the interaction design intent, yet when working with a developer and Wordpress CMS, there are several challenges that make getting the ideal interaction design quite difficult. Yet, I was able to garner enough enthusiasm, the lead developer was inspired to incorporate as much as he could into the final result we see here.
